A space with the scent of wood, a sloped roof, and a space where the family can feel each other’s presence were required. The DK is connected to the wood deck on the south side, creating an open space. A large staircase connects the study corner where the family gathers, making the first and second floors feel like a continuous space. By eliminating the interior walls and exposing the structural materials, the moisture-regulating effect and anti-sacrificial effect of the wood are improved, making the building easier to maintain. The exterior insulation is designed to allow air to pass through the one-room apartment in summer, and to heat the whole house with a single wood stove in winter. The openings are made airtight with glass, shoji screens, and airtight roller screens.
