A home for a family of four built on the site of the main house’s parking lot. It is located in a tranquil countryside with a view all the way to Lake Shinji, one kilometer away, but since it is a controlled area, there is no need to worry about the scenery changing drastically.
We envisioned a home that opens wide to the south.
There is no garden, but since there is no passing traffic, we installed a wooden deck that connects to the tranquil scenery. The rice fields and sky in all four seasons can be seen from every room, and Lake Shinji can be seen in the distance from the deck on the second floor. To give a light impression, the wooden deck on the second floor has omitted the girders as a transparent handrail with a suspended structure.
Since the home is small, the entrance hall was incorporated into the living room, making it a one-box home. The family is close to each other in the private rooms on the second floor, where the presence of the family can be felt through the atrium. Each private room has a small window so that the western sun can penetrate to the private rooms on the east, creating a dramatic view that can only be seen here. Windows were placed according to the views, and we sought to create a comfortable home that opens up to the scenery, frames it, and provides a good view.
