In addition to improving the various functions of the house, the staircase that divided the north and south sides was relocated to create a bright and airy space. The washroom, toilet, and bathroom were renovated for ease of use. The unused second floor was converted into a living space. The insulation and earthquake resistance of the entire building were improved.
In this idyllic environment with no neighboring houses, a wonderful view can be enjoyed from every window. The bedroom and children’s room were created without changing the existing window positions, and the first and second floors were connected by an open-ceiling staircase. One of the bedrooms and children’s rooms is a one-room apartment, so that it can be divided in the future. The second floor, which has a low floor height, has a raised ceiling that highlights the log beams. The box staircase has 17 storage spaces with drawers and hinged doors. This is useful for storing children’s toys, books, and other items that tend to get scattered around in a daily life.
