Considering the need to extend the lifespan of buildings and environmental issues, it seems that sustainable architectural methods that use existing stock for as long as possible will be even more necessary in the future. The main house, filled with family memories, was preserved, while being renovated into a vessel for modern life. The least damaged parts were left intact, and functional rooms such as those with a water supply were placed in the newly constructed area.
The dining hall was made into a bright, open-ceiling space, creating a structure that allows the presence of the family to be connected.
Damaged parts of the sooted bamboo, built-in storage shelves with a wiped lacquer finish, ceiling panels, fittings, and thresholds were repaired and reused. The newly constructed parts are also painted in antique colors to unify the overall impression.
